I think I went a little overboard with the aqua in this spread, but I've always liked the aqua + fuschia color combo. Those two are meant to be :) Nothing really special about this week, but when I look back at it, the week was mostly food. So now you know how much I love eating :)
1. I used a good amount of washi tape compared to the other spreads. I tend to dress up blank grid journal cards with a border of washi. Simple and easy--just my thing! I also used bits of washi to "tape" down some of the square photos. I didn't think that the washi tape would actually hold so I glued the photos down and the washi served more for aesthetic purposes.
2. I used more stitching. Some of the mini titles or captions are composed of alpha tiles or stickers that weren't really sticky so I machine-stitched them down. See the "Exhausted" pocket or the "I love breakfast" photo. I also stitched down a die-cut heart, just for funsies :)
3. I added titles using Photoshop. I liked how Ali Edwards and Cathy Zielske "stamped" titles or captions right onto their photos before printing and I've always wanted to try it. I liked how it turned out except it was maybe too thin? I plan to use this technique in future spreads :)
Also featured in this spread: The usual title card week number die cut using a Silhouette Cameo, DIY labels using Martha Stewart clear stamps, American Crafts thickers, and Smash journaling cards.

I like the aqua - fuchsia colour scheme! The titles added to the photos look great too! x
ReplyDeleteIt looks like you're off to a great start on this project. Sometimes I wish I had taken it on.
ReplyDeleteI like those color too. You are doing great so far.
ReplyDeleteThe photoshop "stamps" are a good addition! I love aqua too...it looks good with so many colors:)
ReplyDeleteWhere do you buy your washi tape?
ReplyDeleteHey Alvina! Half of my washi tape collection I bought at different stores and the other half is online. I bought my first set of washi tape at a Japanese bookstore in LA called Kinokuniya. I'm pretty sure there's one near you. They have also have some at Target, Michael's and I think JoAnn's . Just a warning, once you start, you can't stop! haha
